Thus Begins The Bot

Oh me, oh my.

So, I have been following a little project for a while. It's a Gen 3 shiny hunting bot developed by 40Cakes. The bot is currently doing a 24/7 livestream of a shiny Prof. Oak challenge, but this version of the bot only works on Emerald version. It is currently being rewritten so it'll rely on memory and not image detection, which also means it'll run on all Gen 3 versions.

Gen 3 shiny hunting can only be done at full odds, and this bot has been running since the beginning of the year. It is still on the first part of this run, with only the elusive 1% Seedot left. (Very funnily, when I went into the stream to grab the links for this post, it had literally just caught the last Wingull it needed. Very good timing.)

So I've decided that I'll run the bot in addition to all that egg breeding I'm doing over in Gold at the moment! I even already have a Zigzagoon! :)

I cannot wait to get into later Gens where the shiny rates are much faster... While Gold does have it's nice little shiny Ditto odds, it can be so incredibly slow getting and hatching these eggs. Thenk God I have access to the speed up! (Which is how I've been popping these out daily.) I recommend checking out Johnstone's video about shiny hunting methods in case you're curious how slow Gen 2 can actually be!

I really lack some of the patience that is needed for shiny hunting. I am almost tempted to use some of the scripts for Gen 2 to get it all done in a few days... but, that takes the fun out of it, yeah? I know there is a Gen 2 bot being developed by QuickSilver502 which is also streaming, but it is not available to the public yet. There are also some lua scripts but they kind of 'search' frames for the shiny, not having a bot take over the controls for you, so it's a much more instantaneous process.

Oh, well... I'll keep on breeding out shinies the old fashioned way... with my speed up (lol).

And of course this means the Ruby page of my Shiny Collection is also now available! I also have pages for Silver & Crystal ready to go, but I won't make those publicly available until I'm actively hunting in those games.

I also really need to fix my home page. So outdated... I might change the CSS over to the one the blogs use. It's currently a bit garish, but... I like it...((shrug))

I also finished Tears of the Kingdom since I last posted, and then have been enjoying Baldur's Gate 3. I have been playing a half-orc warlock named Di'ana. She's quite the scholar, wanting to know anything and everything to the point where she disregards her own wellbeing. She's also quite the gossip. Very fun, truly recommend the game if you want a good role playing and story experience.
